The Master of Engineering program in Civil Engineering and Hydraulic Engineering (Discipline Code: 085900) at Dongguan University of Technology centers on the core research direction of “Smart Disaster Prevention and Safety Assurance for Coastal Engineering Structures under Multi-Hazard Coupling.” The program serves national needs in disaster prevention and mitigation, resilient city construction, and safe operation and maintenance of major infrastructure in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, cultivating high-level civil engineering professionals with solid theoretical foundations, strong engineering practice capabilities, and innovative research abilities.
The program focuses on three training directions: disaster prevention and mitigation for engineering structures, novel construction materials and innovative structures, and green construction technologies. Students are required to systematically master professional knowledge including fundamental civil engineering theory, structural analysis, engineering structure durability and safety assessment, intelligent monitoring and disaster emergency response. Graduates will possess capabilities in structural design, inspection and monitoring, performance evaluation, disaster prevention and control, intelligent operation and maintenance, and scientific research.
The program boasts a faculty team led by high-caliber talents and is supported by platforms including the Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Intelligent Disaster Prevention and Emergency Technologies for Urban Lifeline Engineering, satellite ground receiving stations, and the International Joint Laboratory for Smart Disaster Prevention and Emergency Response in Marine Engineering, with research equipment valued at over 100 million RMB. The Civil Engineering discipline ranked 50th nationally in the “2024 Shanghai Ranking's Best Chinese Subjects,” entering the top 30% nationwide for the first time.
The program integrates research-based education with engineering practice, with relevant achievements applied to major projects such as the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Dongguan Waterway Bridge.
